Well
we certainly anticipated that our second game against the Essa Eagles was going
to be about getting a win, given that the Flames had won game 1 against them the previous
week on their home ice!
Coach Jay who could not be with the team on Sunday, called via Face-Time to give the boys a pep-talk was certainly encourage them to play their best.
The Flames worked hard all game to keep the Eagles out of the Flames zone. The first period was certainly action packed and although the Flames had several shots on net, we just could not put one by their goal tender.
Going into the second period tied at 0-0, the Eagles finally put one by #30 Beatty with only 1:03 left in the second period giving them the lead. The Flames defence had their work cut-out for them, but never gave up. Great work #3 Cole, #8 Charlebois, #17 Hamelin, #91 Dupuis-Cundy, #15 Brown and #93 Bradley.
Going into the final period of the game, the Flames forwards went to work and did their best to tie up the game; however the Essa goal minder was determined to get his team a win.
Great fore-checking and passing by #19 Monague, #9 Chicoine , #87 Calvert, #53 Lim, #66 Grenier, #44 Boyle, #10 Ingram and #7 Wright. Despite great effort, the Flames did not win this one! We are hopeful that #11 Fournier will be back in the line-up this weekend.
Not to worry Flames, there is still lots of hockey left! Keep up the great work and positive attitude as we face Coldwater and Wasaga Beach this coming weekend.
