Game 2 Flames travel to Angus to face the Essa Eagles.
And we thought game one was exciting, well game two was just as exciting if not more! What a great game for the Flames. Thanks to all the parents and fans for travelling to Angus on such a cold and blustery day! It must have been Winterama Weekend…..it was -40 after all!

Game 2 was late starting and the Flames where anxious to play the Eagles once again as we had won and tied our games with them during the regular season.

The Flames were without #11 Fournier once again this game, but was in the stands with his jersey on supporting his team. The Eagles certainly had something to prove as they played a very fast and aggressive game, spending a good portion of the time in the Flames end. The first ten minutes was well played and no one could put one pass either goal tenders.

Going into the second period, the offence worked hard to create opportunities, however we could not put one on the board. #19 Monague, #9 Chicoine, #87 Calvert, #53 Lim, #66 Grenier, #44 Boyle, #10 Ingram and #7 Wright worked hard creating opportunities and took every shot possible against the Eagles. The Eagles also responded and kept #30 Beatty quite busy between the pipes and certainly were quite disappointed when #30 made the over-the-head glove save robbing them of a goal. Great save Kyle, you certainly made me proud!

Going into the third period the Flames knew they had to get a goal in order to make this a winning game. Within a few minutes played in the third, #44 Boyle got a hold of the puck and went flying down the ice finding himself one-on-one with the Eagles goal keeper. With determination and a wrist shot that made the puck raise just enough to get by the goalie; the Flames where on board.

The Flames exploded in celebration, but knew they still had over twelve minutes to play and the defence went to work to protect the lead; #3 Cole, #8 Charlebois, #17 Hamelin, #91 Dupuis-Cundy, #15 Brown and #93 Bradley.  The Flames did not give up and neither did the Eagles, however it was the continued fore-checking, hard skating and defensive plays that gave the Flames the second victory in the round-robin GBT play downs.

Congratulations to #44 Boyle on being player of the game and fir his first post-season goal. Also, great work in net #30 Beatty who earned his second shut-out of the post-season. Keep up the great work Flames.
