Georgian Bay Triangle Novice B Playoffs – Games 4 & 5
Penetang Flames host the Cold Water Wildcats in Game 4 & Headed to Wasaga to face-off against the Stars in Game 5!

What a great weekend of Hockey by the Novice LL Flames. On Saturday the Flames hosted the Coldwater Wildcats for game 4 of the playoffs. The Flames skated onto the ice for game time with something to prove and some with swagger!

The Flames played an aggressive first period and opportunities presented themselves early when #10 Ingram took a shot on net that just missed thanks to a great pass from line mate #19 Monague and #7 Wright. The Flames did not give up and at 4:58 in the first #87 Calvert scored the first goal with the assistance of #11 Fournier and #53 Lim.

The Flames started the 2nd period with the same speed and pressure against the Wildcats and thanks to some great defensive work by #91 Dupuis-Cundy and #17 Hamelin the puck did not get pass the blue line. The Flames continued to apply the pressure and #44 Boyle had a great break-away that certainly had the Wildcats goal tender on his toes. With the Wildcats on a power play with only two minutes left in the second, #3 Cole, #8 Charlebois, #15 Brown and #93 Bradley worked hard and cleared the puck not giving the Wildcats an opportunity to take a shot on net.

Coldwater came out with a bang right off the face-off in the 3rd and put one by #30 Beatty who was solid in net the entire game. The Flames did not give up and the forwards continued to step-up, great work , #9 Chicoine and #66 Grenier. With 5 minutes left in the period, the Wildcats took the lead and it was go time. Both Coaches called time-out hoping to come up with game winning plan. With less then 2 minutes left the Flames pulled their net minder and did their best with six players to tie-up the game. It sure was an exciting game for the team, the coaches and the fans who did not sit throughout the entire game! The Wildcats may have won the game, but the Flames certainly out played them!

On Sunday Flames travelled to Wasaga Beach to face the Stars for game two of the play-downs. I wish I was a fly on the wall in the dressing room prior to the game, because the Flames exploded on the ice and scored a team high of 8 goals against the Stars. Congratulations #66 Grenier on your first hat trick and for your dad making it official by throwing his hat onto the ice! Also, to #19 Monague for his second hat trick of the season. Additional goals scored by #87 Calvert and #44 Boyle. Great team work and passing in this game was certainly the difference and made this win a true team effort! Well done Flames!
