A great weekend of Novice LL hockey
Game #16 Penetang Flames tie it up against Midland #2 and
Game #17 Penetang Flames make the trip to the new Oro Thunder arena

Game #16

Penetang Flames tie it up against Midland #2

The Penetang Flames Novice team saw the introduction of a new offensive line consisting of #91, #19 and #15 and they started the game off in a big way! The line truly demonstrated some great team work, passing and heads-up at the net which got the team the fist goal of the game. #19 Joshua L. scored the goal off #15 Elliot d. rebound.

Both teams saw action in their ends, and #31 Ryan C for the Flames had some outstanding saves and I personally thought the glove save was the play of the day! The team continued to demonstrate their ability on the ice and make great efforts to pass the puck to their team mates. The second period was exciting hockey and both team held each other at the 1-1 tie.

In the third period the team continued to work hard and #91 skated hard with his line mates to get the second goal of the game. Midland responded and tied the game at 2-2. The last two minutes were intense and #17 was robbed on a great break-away. The Flames defence lead by #44 Owen D. was solid and held the team at the 2-2 tie in the end. Great work Flames!

Game #17

Penetang Flames make the trip to the new Oro Thunder arena

On Sunday the Flames traveled to Oro and played their first game of the season on the new NHL size ice surface. Great facility, but I think they forgot about putting in heat! The first period Penetang worked hard to get and keep the puck out of their zone; however the Oro Thunder #2 managed to find the back of the net twice in the first 10.

The second period saw some great defence plays by #53 Brennan M and #44 Owen D. The Flames found their grove, and the team worked hard to get the puck into the Oro end and #17 Spencer P. scored an unassisted goal on a great break away. The team had a few more shots on net; but unfortunately could not get it over the blue line. Oro scored another 2 goals and had the lead 4-1 going into the last ten minutes of the game.

The thirds period was action packed and #31 Ryan C between the pipes made some great saves and keep Oro off the score board in the third. Great work by #10 Nathan, #66 Finn, #4 Aiden, #9 Trent and #11 Drew on offence and to #8 Kyle, #3 Chad, #93 Landon for their work on defence.

What a great weekend of hockey, well done Flames.
