U9 MD Champs Again
Back to back weekends the Penetang Flames U9 MD squad are tournament champions. After going undefeated winning the Coldwater Classic last weekend, the Flames went undefeated again to win the Constable Morgan Russell Memorial Tournament in Lefroy this weekend.
The tournament started with a hard fought high scoring game against the Mariposa Lightening ending in a 6-6 tie. Next up were the Newmarket Renegades and the Richmond Hill Jaguars. With scores of 3-0 and 11-0 respectively, the hard working Flames secured not only 2 wins but 1st place overall and a spot in the Championship game.
The Championship game was a nail biter. After 3 periods we were deadlocked at 2-2. In the overtime period discipline and hardwork proved to be the difference against the Ennismore Eagles. The flames capitalize on the powerplay winning the Championship with a score of 3-2.
Lots of growth in this young group over the past two weekends and the coaching staff and parents could not be more proud.
