Initiation/Tyke Update (Mar 1, 2018)

As our season winds to an end, I'd like to take a moment to send a giant thank you to all the volunteers that made this season a memorable one. The coaches, trainers, managers, and on-ice volunteers all have spent countless hours delivering our program to over 70 kids this year. Their contribution is greatly appreciated. Please take a moment to thank them in person over the next couple of weeks and let them know how much you appreciate it as well.

Good afternoon everyone,

This is the second last update for the Initiation/Tyke program and includes some important details about the March schedule. Please note that there have been a few changes to the March schedule from what was shared in December, so please update your calendars accordingly.

Intro Final Day Changed

We've decided to extend the Intro To Hockey season to March 10th from March 3rd. That means there are 2 weeks left for Intro to Hockey!

Tykes in First Place

This past weekend the Tykes finished up their regular season with a win over Coldwater capping off an undefeated season (13-0-1) in first place in the GBTLL. Congratulations to the players, coaches, and parents that have been part of a wonderful season. Their work ethic and sportsmanship throughout the year has been something we can all be proud of.

Tournaments & Jamborees

The Mite & Tyke teams still have a few tournaments and jamborees coming up.

Mite

Creemore Mite Jamboree is March 10th in Creemore

Tyke

Elmvale Anti-Bullying Tournament is March 3rd from 1pm to 8pm in Elmvale
Lincoln Tyke Tournament is March 9th to 11th in Lincoln

Convenors For Next Year

Next year, my boys and I will be moving out of Tyke and into Novice. That will open up a position on the board to be the Tyke Convenor. If you are interested in taking over this position and have any questions, please let me know. While I will be moving up an age group, I am committed to helping continue to make improvements to our Initiation/Tyke program and will be readily available to assist, provide guidance, or write really long emails.

PMHA AGM

The PMHA AGM is scheduled for April 12th at 7:00pm in the room overlooking the arena. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the association, our plans for next year, and to vote for our 2018-19 board.

End of Year Banquets

Each level (Intro, Mite, and Tyke) typically has a year end banquet at the end of March or early April. I will be in contact with the team managers to determine how they want to proceed with these. In the past, we have run a bowling banquet for the younger kids (Intro & Mite) and did a Mother-Son hockey game for the Tyke kids. Stay tuned for more.

Please note that our Initiation/Tyke program does not attend the PMHA banquet. That banquet is for Novice to Midget players/families.
