Double Winning Weekend For the Flames
Congratulations to the U9 Flames and the U13 B Flames for taking home tournament championships this past weekend.  The U9 Flames won the Bob Beaumont U9 LL Championship in Parry Sound and the U13 B Flames won the Dunsmuir Memorial U13 AA Tournament in East Gwillumbury.

The U9 Flames began the weekend with a hard fought 7-7 tie with South Muskoka Leafs. They then beat the Coldwater Wildcats handily, 13-2. This set up a showdown with the Highland Storm to win pool B and head to the finals. In a close game, the Flames prevailed with a 3-2 victory. In the finals, the Flames knocked of the Howick Hornets 1-0 to capture the championship!

The U13 Flames similarly began their weekend with a 2-2 tie against the London Knights AA team. They then beat Newmarket Renegades AA 5-2. This setup a showdown for the top seed in Pool B with the Aurora Tigers AA. The Tigers came out flying and the Flames took the loss by a final score of 7-1. Despite the loss, the Flames still moved on to the semi-finals as the 2nd seed in Pool B. The semi-finals featured a battle of the U13 A International Silver Stick Champions, the St. Thomas Jr Stars AA, and the U13 B International Silver Stick Champions, the Penetang Flames. The Flames got back on track after their loss earlier in the day and knocked off the Stars 3-2 to head to the final. The final would not be a rematch with the Tigers though as they lost to the East Gwillumbury Eagles in the other semi-final, so it was the Flames vs the Eagles for the championship. The Flames played their best game of the tournament in the final hammering the Eagles 6-1 to take home the championship.

Congratulations to both teams on a great weekend!
