U13 C Flames Go 2-2 At International Silver Stick
The Precision Auto U13 C Flames competed in the International Silver Stick Tournament in Pelham over the past weekend.
For a lot of the players it was their first time experiencing a tournament of this magnitude, with teams from both Canada and the United States participating. The players attended the ISS pin exchange and opening ceremonies, an experience unlike any other and a great way to meet other players and coaches.
The team started slowly losing their first two games - 5-1 to Mt. Brydges and 5-0 to Lambton Shores - games they would like to have back. However, the team regained their focus and came out flying in their next two games winning 6-0 over San Francisco and 7-0 over Genesis, finishing the Tournament 2-2 with a plus 4 goal differential.
Both Jake Asselin and Quentin Corkery netted shut outs with the offence being led by the team captain Cameron Gignac who had an impressive team high 8 goals. Additional scoring came from Ryan Bingham (2), Liam Partridge-Reid (2), and Avery Boyle and Boady Radecki with 1 each.
The team certainly enjoyed the tournament experience as well all the fun of staying in a hotel right next to Niagara Falls. The friendships, experience and team bonding is something the players, coaches and families will always remember. Thank you to the team management, players and parents for making this a great team success.
