The PMHA Board of Executives has worked in partnership with the Town of Penetanguishene, our Public Health Unit, the OMHA and the OHF over the past several months to deliver a minor hockey program for our children during this pandemic. Unfortunately, we have decided at this time not to proceed with the second half of the 2020 - 2021 season.
This was not an easy decision for the Board and there were several factors at play, including the safety of our players, the uncertainty around when we will be allowed to return to the ice, the added cost of ice time with a maximum of 10 participants permitted, the short amount of time remaining in the season with a March 31 end date, among other things.
We would like to say a big thank you to all of our coaches and volunteers. They have gone above and beyond, which was especially noteworthy during these unique times. Also, please support our sponsors (listed on our website at the following link
https://penetangflames.ca/Sponsors/). During these difficult times, many of them still donated without having the regular publicity.
If you still have your game jerseys, please get them to your coaches asap. If you don't return them, the cost of the jerseys will be charged to your next year's registration fees.
We wanted nothing more than to get our children back on the ice with their teammates. However, we couldn't see how we could create a safe and feasible program for such a short amount of time. We look forward to planning for the 2021 - 2022 season and to getting our kids back playing hockey.
Sincerely,
Aaron Dion
PMHA President
