Asselin Insurance Atom Reps Take Home Silver Stick Regional Title
Submitted By Duane Homick on Monday, November 18, 2019
Congratulations to the Asselin Insurance Atom Reps who won the Wasaga Beach Regional Atom B Silver Stick championship this past weekend.  They have now qualified for the International Silver Stick tournament in Forest, ON from Jan 24-26 where they will face the winners of other Canadian and American regional tournaments.

The Atom Reps started strong with a precision-like 5-0 win over the Parry Sound Shamrocks.  In the second game of the day, they faced the Newcastle Stars.  An amazing goaltending performance from the Stars netminder meant the Flames needed some last second heroics just tie the game despite a sizeable shots advantage.  That tie meant Penetang finished first in their pool and setup a meeting with Wasaga Beach in the semi-finals.

Wasaga Beach battled hard right to the final buzzer with the Flames goaltending leading the way to a 5-1 victory and a date with Elmvale in the finals.  The final game was another tight affair with the Flames scoring in the last minute of both the first and the second period before breaking things open early in the third period to take a 4 goal lead.  A last minute goal from Elmvale spoiled the shutout but the Flames celebrated the tournament title and an invitation to the International Silver Stick tournament in January with a 4-1 win.

Congratulations to the players and coaches.  Good luck at International Silver Stick!!!
