Bantam Reps Win Silver In Lake Placid
Congratulations to the Penetang Bantam Rep Flames who travelled to Lake Placid, NY to compete in the CAN/AM Challenge Cup.
In this exciting international tournament, the team competed against teams from New Hampshire, Connecticut and Ontario, finishing the tournament with the Silver Medal! The team opened with a dominating win, defeating the New Hampshire Avalanche 7-0. The team met their biggest challenge of the season to date in game 2, losing a close 4-3 decision to the New Canaan Winter Club from Connecticut. Game 3 was another commanding performance by the Flames winning 8-0 against the Granite State Wild from New Hampshire. In the final round robin game, Penetang struggled to stay disciplined, losing 4-2, despite out shooting the Americans 24-15. The Flames strong goaltending and defensive play throughout the tournament however, allowed them to proceed to the gold medal game by winning the 3-way tie breaker, based on goals against. The Championship game pitted the undefeated New Canaan Winter Club from USA against the Penetang Flames. Although the Flames played well, and actually outshot the team from Connecticut 22-18, New Canaan prevailed 5-1. The coaches were very proud of the team's achievements this weekend and are very pleased with their silver medal performance.
