Congratulations to the Asselin Insurance U11 LL#1 team on being Wasaga Beach Regional Silverstick Finalists!
The Flames were facing a tough Saturday, facing Listowel (7-0 in the regular season) and Wingham (6-0-1 in regular season). The Flames goalie was tested early but stood tall until the defence took over the game, limiting the opponent's forwards and scoring 4 of our 5 goals. The Flames came away with a 3-3 tie vs Wingham, followed by a 2-2 tie vs Listowel.
With the Flames needing a win Sunday morning against Mitchell, the forwards were challenged to be puck hungry to generate offence - and they delivered! A 4-0 shutout win, with all 4 goals scored by the forwards.
The Flames finished the round robin tied for second place, and luck was in our favour as the Flames had the tie-break (fewest goals against). We were moving on to the finals.
Sunday afternoon saw the Flames facing Wingham once again. The Flames had their chances - including a 6-on-3 in the final 2 minutes - but couldn't get the puck past Wingham's netminder. A final score of 4-1 for Wingham - Penetang's first loss of the season.
The coaching staff are extremely proud of the effort and positivity put forward both by the kids on this team. and by the families there to cheer us on!
