Atom LL #1 Capture Frank Sabatino Memorial Tournament Title in Oakville
For the Second weekend in a Row the Penetang Flames Atom LL1 team was away from home fighting for the glory of Penetang.

After the previous weekends exciting SilverStick tournament we went home and spent a practice doing full ice drills.   And it showed.
The young Flames set the rink ablaze with an 11- 1 win over the Oakville Red Devils.

The next Morning the Oakville Knight's marched against us, but they fell 9 - 1 as they were no match to our Flames.  Though the website reads 8 - 1. We had 2 players AJ M and Cohen B. Score hat tricks.

The intensity coming into the last game against the Mount Brydges Cougars Gold was hot.  Winner of this game advanced to the semi finals the next day.   AJ D, assisted by Cohen B set the tone for this period potting the first puck in just 12 seconds.   We would score 3 more goals in the first and they would score a single in the 2nd for a final 4 - 1 and off to the Semi finals to face the West London Hawks.

The Morning was early and snowy but the Young Flames were ready and could taste the victory. This would be a game that required non stop pressure.  Scoring first in the first was Jackson G. The second period would be scoreless and the Hawks tied it up early in the 3rd.   The pressure was getting to both teams but we held our composure best, The Hawks out too many men on the ice in the defensive end and that gave us a powerplay.  coach Rich put out a power play line of AJ M, Cohen B, and James D.  And with that Cohen gets the puck into the net.  This will be the last goal of the game  a hard 2-1 win.

The championship game was exciting!  The 6 - 1 Win over the Mount Brydges Cougars Red had spectators on their feet.  This was a fast game.  Jackson G, was head to head against the player who Beat him by a stride in the fastest skater competition.  Jackson was not taking second place in this game.    Goalies on both sides had to work hard, by the end of the 2nd the Flames are winning 4 - 0, between the Second and third period the tournament hosted a puck toss, people from the stands throwing pucks onto the ice the closest 3 to the centre getting a prize.   Manager Stephen D,  had his pucks land in 1st and 3rd place.  Which just kept the excitement of winning and gun going into the 3rd for both the athletes and their parents.   In the 3rd we take our lead to 6 - 0!  The pressure to get our first shutout of the tournament was on. but with just under 3 minutes left the cougars wrap around the net and fire a shot across to the far corner.   Reece makes 3 more BIG saves in those last 3 minutes keeping the score at 6 - 1.  And a great tournament it was.
