Congratulations to our Bantam Rep team on winning the Brian English Memorial tournament this past weekend in Elmvale and our Novice Rep team on winning the P.E.C. Milk Tournament this past weekend in Prince Edward County.

The Novice Reps team had an undefeated round robin.  Penetang took the top seed and headed into the semi finals where they played a tough semi-final game knocking off the Muskrat Voyageurs 4-2.

The finals was a nail biter and after the teams swapped a pair of late third period goals, they headed to overtime tied 3-3. When overtime solved nothing, the teams went to a 3 player shootout. Still deadlocked following the first three shooters, they continued in a sudden victory format for a fourth shooter where the Flames came out victorious!

    Go Flames Go!

It was a double winning weekend for our two Novice teams with the Novice LL team capturing the Orr Lake Hat Trick Tournament Championship and the Novice Rep team taking home the Wasaga Beach Regional Silver Stick Championship.

In Wasaga Beach, The Novice Rep team went 2-0 in the round robin with solid wins over the Wasaga Beach Stars and the Newcastle Stars to head to the semi-finals as the top seed in Pool A.  After a 9-0 victory over the Ingersoll Express in the semi-finals, a rematch with Wasaga Beach was all that stood between the Flames and the Silver Stick championship.  Knowing the Wasaga team had a ton of character and would not give up, the Flames wanted to get off to a quick start - and they did just that.  With two goals on the first shift of the game and 7 in the first period, the Flames took a commanding lead and never looked back on their way to an 11-1 win.

The Novice Reps will now compete for the International Silver Stick Championship in Pelham, ON from Jan 10-13th.

Congrats to both Novice teams on an excellent weekend of hockey!

The Penetang Flames Novice Rep team won their fourth tournament of the year - the Novice A Duke Knox Otter Classic this past weekend in Huntsville, ON!

Penetang started strong with a 9-0 win over the Kawartha Coyotes playing on the olympic sized Don Lough ice surface in their only game on Friday.  Following the match, Penetang headed to the Hidden Valley Resort for some swimming, tobogganing and a team pasta dinner.

In their first game on Saturday, Penetang faced a pesky and relentless Casselman-Embrun Ice Dogs squad that challenged the Flames the entire game with the Flames eventually pulling out the W with a 5-1 final.  The final round robin game, played again on the olympic sized ice, was a battle of attrition with both teams fighting fatigue in a game won by the Flames 5-0.

With top seed in the B pool, the Flames faced host Huntsville Otters in the semi-finals.  The Otters scored first and held the Flames to just one goal through the first period.  However, in the second and third, the Flames found their legs and proved too much for the Otters, taking the semi-final 11-1.

The finals was a matchup of the only undefeated teams from the weekend with the Flames facing the Listowel Cyclones on Sunday afternoon.  Despite a strong shot advantage, the Flames managed to solve the Cyclones goalie only once getting turned aside over and over again through the first two periods as the teams headed to the third tied at 1.  In the third, Penetang continued to pour it on eventually netting two goals to take a 3-1 lead.  Some timely defense and goaltending preserved the victory and Penetang captured the Duke Knox Classic for their fourth tournament title of the year!

Congrats to the players and coaches!
