Coaches Corner
This past thanksgiving weekend your Watsons Shell Bantam Rep Flames were busy trying to win their second tournament in just two weeks. Their first test of the tournament they found themselves up against the Dorchester Dragons.

With a quick tip in goal the Flames found themselves up 1-0 after just the second shift of the game. They would end up finishing the game with 3 more unanswered goals to come home with a 4-0, Mia Mcleod recording the shut out. In their second match up they came across St. Mary's Rock and again the penetang flames found themselves winning a convincing 3-1 win. With only an hour and a half between games the flames got a quick rest and went up against local team Wasaga Beach Stars. The flames had a shakey start and couldn't seem to get much going, but battled through it and won a nail bitter 2-1. Moving them to second place in the round robin play. They would find themselves playing the Dorchester Dragons once again in the semi finals. With a much closer game or majority of the game the flames finally put it into gear and had 3 unanswered goals to win and move on to the finals. Brandon Lafond making a number of huge saves to keep the flames in the game. In the finals the Flames found themselves against the hometown team the Huntsville Otters. With both teams going into the finals with a 4-0 record we knew we would have a tough test Infront of us. Going up 2 quickly the flames looked a little relaxed, but too relaxed as the Otters tied the game at 2 quickly in the beginning of the third period. Late in the third on the power play Josh St. Amant found the back of the net on a rebound to put penetang up 3-2. The kids would hold on to the lead and bring home yet another tournament championship. A very positive start for the Flames, let's keep this up.
Yours in hockey,
