Final Game of the Regular Season.
January 9th – The Flames host the Muskoka Rock

The Flames Novice Rep team finished off their season at home against the Muskoka Rock. The Flames came out strong right from the puck drop and worked hard well as a team passing and fore-checking. The Flames found themselves working hard on the penalty kill and ensured that the Rock did not get one by #31 Craftchick who was solid in net for the Flames. The Flames did put the first goal on the score board and #66 Couling got the first goal of the game and of the season thanks to a great assist by his line mates #19 Picken and #8 Gravel.

The Flames started the second period with the lead (1-0) and the offensive line of #13 Price, #91 Dupuis and #53 King continued to apply the pressure in the Rock’s zone. #13 Price had a great break-away and put the Muskoka goalie to work! Both teams battled throughout the second and Muskoka tied the game with a little more then 4:00 minutes left to play. The Flames responded and #44 Landriault put the Flames back in the lead with the second goal of the game with the assist going to #10 Piotrowski (aka #RP10 as he’s fondly known in our house) and #93 Charlebois. The Flames took a penalty late in the second and the Rock responded with their second goal of the game on the power play tying the game 2-2 going into the last period.

The Flames defensive lines of #4 Parent, #17 Tucker, # 87 B Charlebois and #9 Ross worked hard to clear the puck and create opportunities for their team mates. The Rock managed to find the back of the net early in the third taking the lead 3-2. The Flames continued to apply the pressure hoping to tie the game. #31 Craftchick took a hard slash (that went unnoticed by the officials) and #30 Beatty came in to assist the team in the final ten minutes of play. The Flames did not give up and worked hard with the extra man on the ice and an empty net, however the game ended as a 3-2 win for Muskoka.

Congratulations on #31 Ryan Craftchick on Player of the Game.

Great season Flames and best of luck in the playoffs!
