It was a busy weekend of Hockey for the Flames Novice Rep team. The weekend started with a game in Elmvale on Friday night and closed off with a game in Collingwood on Sunday!

Flames visit the Elmvale Coyotes

The Flames travelled to Elmvale to face the Coyotes for the four time this season. The Flames took the ice with #31 Craftchick in net, #13 Price, #91 Dupuis and #53 King on forward and #9 Ross and #17 Tucker on defence. The Coyotes came out strong and scored the first goal. The Coyotes continued to apply the pressure and maintained the lead in the first period.

The Flames took the ice in the second and worked hard as the Coyotes continued to apply the pressure. The Flames defence of #4 Parent and #87 B. Charlebois worked hard and helped to only allow the Coyotes to get one more on the score board. The Flames applied good pressure in the second by the forward line of #10 Piotrowski, #44 Landriault and #93 W. Charlebois.

The Flames started the third down by four but never gave up. #30 Beatty started in net for the last fifteen minutes and the Flames had two great shots on net right off the face-off. The Flames got their first goal of the game with less than four minutes to go thanks to some great team work by the #13 Price, #91 Dupuis and #53 King line. With a goal under their belt the Flames continued to work hard and the line of #19 Picken, #8 Gravel and #66 Couling pushed hard to create some opportunities. It was with only two minutes left on the clock that #17 Tucker riffled one from the blue line and got the second goal of the game for the Flames. The final score was Coyotes 5, Flames 2.

The Flames host the Collingwood Blackhawks

The Flames warmed-up to some AC-DC at home and started the first period with applying good pressure against the Blackhawks. The Flames defence of #17 Tucker and #9 Ross worked hard to keep the Blackhawks out of the Flames zone; however with less then four minutes left to play in the first, the Blackhawks get the first goal of the game.

The Flames started the second with lots of fire and #13 Price had a great break away, however the Blackhawks goalie made a glove save and managed to keep the game scoreless for the Flames. With lots of great chances and pressure by the Flames #10 Piotrowski and #93 W. Charlebois they made Collingwood work hard. The Blackhawks continued to add pressure and finished the second period with a five to zero lead going into the last ten minutes.

The last ten minutes the Flames seem to find some energy and worked hard to get some additional shots on net, however did not manage to find the back of the net. The game ended with the Blackhawks winning and the Flames scoreless.

The Flames travel to Collingwood

The Flames came into the Sunday game with something to prove to the Blackhawks who had defeated them the day before on home ice. The Flames started #30 Beatty in net and on a power play within the first two minutes, #10 Piotrowski scored a great goal thanks to some great passing from his line mates #44 Landriault and #93 Charlebois. The Flames got the first goal and set the pass for the game. The Blackhawks responded and got two quick goals and took a few penalties along the way. The Flames pressed hard into the last few minutes of the first as they worked hard on the power play.

Going into the second, the Flames were only down by one and they applied the pressure when #9 Ross took the puck from the Flames zone all the way to the Collingwood end and took a shot on net. On a power play, the Blackhawks got another goal and took a two point lead. The Flames responded and got a quick one off the face-off thanks to some great team work. The second goal was scored by #44 Landriault, thanks to great team work by his line mates #10 Piotrowski and #93 Charlebois. The Flames defence of #4 Parent, #17 Tucker, # 87 Charlebois and #9 Ross continued to work hard to keep the Blackhawks out of the Flames zone and to eliminate their opportunity to take shots on net. With the Flames only down by one, they continued to work hard to create opportunities and the line of #19 Picken, #8 Gravel and #66 Couling certainly applied the pressure to Collingwood. With about four minutes left in the second, #93 Charlebois put another one pass the Blackhawks goalie and tied the game at 3-3. The line of #10, #44 and #93 was on fire for the Flames! Collingwood did not want to see the game at a tie and they came back and got two more goalies before the end of the second period.

The last fifteen minutes saw #31 Craftchick in net and lots of time for the Flames to come back and get a few more. The line of #13 Price, #91 Dupuis and #53 King worked hard to keep the puck in the Collingwood zone and create some scoring opportunities. Both teams went back and forth with power play opportunities and even some 4 on 4 hockey. The last five minutes of the game saw the Flames with great penalty killing and power plays; however the final score would stay at 5-3 for the Blackhawks. Overall a well played game by the Flames and not a bad way to finish before the Christmas Break.

Merry Christmas to the Novice Rep Players, Coaches and Families.
