Georgian Bay Triangle Play Downs – Game 1
Flames hosted the Shelburne Wolves – What a game!

Game one of the eight game GBT Play Downs and the Flames came out strong. The Flames were pumped and ready to start the play downs! Not sure who was more nervous the parents for the coaches!

The game was filled with action and the fans were on their feet for the entire game! The first ten minutes was full of action and Shelburne was quick out of the gate and scored the first goal of the game. Penetang quickly responded with an unassisted break-away goal by #15 Elliot D. With a one-one tie, the Flames continued to put on the pressure and certainly made every effort to find the back of the net once again. With some great stick handling and passing from his line mates #66 Finn B. and #11 Drew F., #10 Nathan G. got his first goal of the season and he did so in style!

Going into the second period of the game with a one point lead, the Flames played hard and made the Wolves work even harder to keep them out of their end zone. The offence #9, #13, #17, #19, and #91 played a hard game and took every opportunity to fire it on the net. The Wolves did come back and tied the game at 2-2 going in the last ten minutes of play.

The third period of the game certainly started out with a bang, and #15 Eliot D. scored his second goal of the game put the Flames in the lead with 7:30 remaining on the clock. The Flames had the lead and wanted to keep it right to the end. Unfortunately the Flames took a penalty and this caused for some concern on the bench. With two members of the Flames team in the box, three on five hockey was on! #8 Kyle B and #44 Owen D held the line on D while #10 and #17 worked hard as the sole offence player. As a fan (and mother of a defender on the ice for two minutes) I could barely look, but the boys stepped-up and supported their goalie #31 Ryan C fight off the power play. Great work by #3 Chad C, #87 Thomas L. and #93 Landon T on defence throughout the entire game. What a game and what a very well deserved victory.

Congratulations to the players of the game #10 Nathan G. and #15 Elliot D.
