Novice Information (Penetanguishene Minor Hockey Association)

The Novice division is the next progression beyond the Initiation division in building life long hockey players.  Our overarching goal remains the same - to teach the fundamentals of hockey in a fun, supportive and stimulating environment.  To achieve this goal, we have two different levels with each building upon the previous level.

Minor Novice

  • For kids aged 7
  • Focus on fundamental hockey skills + power skating
  • 40+ hours of team practice that focuses on skills development
  • Regular season in the GBTLL
  • 1.5-2.5 hours of ice time per week
  • 75+ on ice hours total for year (2.5 hour/wk on average)

Novice

  • For kids aged 8
  • Focus on fundamental hockey skills + power skating
  • 40+ hours of team practice that focuses on skills development
  • Regular season and playoffs/tournament in the GBTLL/GBMHL
  • 1.5-2.5 hours of ice time per week
  • 75+ on ice hours total for year (2.5 hour/wk on average)
